Foundation Degree 2026/2027 Application Guidance

Supporting your application

The following guidance has been written to help you through the application form for the University of East London (UEL) — the final stage of the process for joining the Foundation Degree.

There is a lot of information in here, intended to cover every eventuality and offer the maximum support possible. Glance through this guidance before you begin your application so you know what to expect. Then, the best way is to take it section by section, and use what we have provided to help you complete the application.

As well as your local organisation, the Centre for the Children’s Workforce team is here to support you through this process. Please reach out to us with any questions, no matter how small.

Support webinars

We are running a number of support webinars to outline the application for you. There are several dates available for the same session.

At a glance

The UEL application is expected to be split into several sections:

For all applicants, these sections are:

1. Your personal information

2. Your qualifications

3. A short Personal Statement

4. Your right to study

5. How your study will be financed

For some applicants, there may also be additional sections to complete – if applicable:

6. English Language Qualification – if English is not your first language.

7. The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) section, which you need to complete if you do not hold a Level 3 qualification (see below for more).

Your Personal Statement and, if applicable, your Recognition of Prior Learning are both sections where you will need to describe your experience and eligibility in your own words.

These sections can feel daunting, but we have provided additional guides for these. And the good news is that you already have everything you need: you have been working with children and young people, learning on the job every day. Our guides will help you put that experience into words.

If you would prefer to explore this guidance in one document you can download it here.
